The instructions read:
"The Fox Postnasal Balloon / February, 1951

A simple device for the control of bleeding in the nasopharynx replacing the postnasal pack.
Uses: Following the removal of adenoids or growths in the nasopharynx. Hemorrhage from an undiscoverable source in the nose. The Balloon serves as a postnasal plug allowing the nose to be packed anteriorly with gauze.
Advantages: Ease and rapidity of insertion and removal with little discomfort to the patient.
Anesthesia unnecessary.
May be left in overnight without danger.
No trauma to the bleeding area.
May be reused after cleansing and sterilization in solutions not injurious to rubber.
N.B. [nota bene]: Facility in the use of the Balloon may be attained during routine adenoidectomies.
