Description
White enamel canister (.1a), 6" in height, with lid (.1b), both labelled Chlorothene in black handwriting.
Chlorothene, also known as 1,1,1-Trichloroethane or methyl chloroform, was a halocarbon degreasing solvent used prior to the discovery of its probable carcinogenic qualities and the shift away from using ozone-depleting chemicals. It also acted as a central nervous system depressant and was used as an anaesthetic at times.
