In 1845, Florence Nightingale In 1845 decided to become a nurse In defiance of societal expectations and strong family objections. She obtained the only available education at the Institute for Protestant Deaconesses at Kaiserworth, Germany.
In 1854, she proceeded to Scutari in the Crimea, along with 38 nurses she had personally educated.
