The Memorial Book was created in 1959 by the class of September 1954 in honour of Helga Thordarson, a classmate. Requested by classmates, family or friends, the graduate’s name is entered in the book with the year of graduation, year of death, and the name or names of those making the request. The pages are decorated, and the calligrapher is Joan Kerr (class of September 1965).
A donation of $15 is suggested which is used to support bursaries for VGH graduates or their descendants. To honour the graduate, contact the Alumnae Office (604-875-4111 extension 62049) to obtain the form. After completing the form, it is returned to the Alumnae Office along with the cheque
payable to the VGH School of Nursing Alumnae Association (memo: Education Fund). As the two Memorial Books have not been displayed to the members attending the luncheon in the last two years, the names recorded for 2023 are included at this time.
The books are on display at the office and at the September Luncheon. It is to
be noted that although the graduate may have passed away at an earlier date,
the recording of the name is completed when the nomination is submitted.
Your generous donations to the VGH School of Nursing Alumnae Association helps support the educational bursaries. You will receive a tax receipt for donations over $10.
