A Long Tradition

Museum

Our museum began over 30 years ago with the acquisition of a fully functioning iron lung  –  still in the collection and still working.

Additions were added over the ensuing years and the Museum now consists of many unique and priceless pieces which are lovingly looked after by the Archives Committee.

The textile room houses a collection of student and graduate uniforms and capes.  The oldest uniform is an original worn by a 1918 student.  Replicas of some of the uniforms have been made for display purposes. A large room contains document boxes and museum items such as equipment used in providing nursing care.

Of great interest are the pin and miniature doll collections. Some of the items are on line and more will be added as they are scanned and processed. The museum is open by appointment only as it is staffed by a part time archivist and volunteers.

Archival Photo Project

The Archival photo project has continued throughout the year. We are delighted that PhaseV of the collection is on the website. The collection is viewable at: https://www.vghnursingschoolalumnae.com/wp2/
archive-and-museum-collections/.
Users can select which collection they want to view. Phase V1 is about to start. We hope that this project will allow the general public be able to use the photos for research as well as enjoyment.
Once again many thanks to those who have contributed to our archival fund. Your donations have made this project feasible.
