Reminder of the VGH SON Alumnae Bursary September 30, 2026

The VGH School of Nursing Alumnae Association is pleased to be able to provide bursaries to:

  1. VGH and UBC/VGH Collaborative graduates AND
  2. Descendants of  VGH and UBC/VGH Collaborative graduates as they pursue further education.
  3. The funding for the bursaries is based on the annual interest accrued from the Harvey/Cain Endowment Fund, the Eileen Lewis Johnston Memorial Fund, the Grace Sterling Smith Fund, the Margaret Faulkner Fund, the Edith Mary (McCallan), the Cork Memorial Bursary, the Inez (Fox) Mowat Memorial Bursary, individual donations, and the Alumnae Association Education funds.

The awards are made on an annual basis after the completed applications are submitted by September 30. The application form is available on the website below or by calling the Alumnae Office at 604-875-4111, local 62049.

We are now accepting Applications for the 2026 VGH SON Alumnae Bursaries. The deadline is September 30, 2026. All documentation must accompany the application form and be submitted to the Alumnae office or  email them to vghnursingbursaries@gmail.com no later than September 30, 2026.

Arriving at The Galiano Inn, the classmates enjoyed three days of memory sharing and lots of laughter. Dinner at The Hummingbird Pub was followed by the RCMP costumed escort and members in capes, caps, and scissors as Edythe arrived with The Torch. The self-appointed Health Clinic Nurses were presented with a Clinic Kit to ensure a safe night for all.

Gathering for breakfast the next day, the members completed quizzes, sang a revised Adjustment Song, opened Goody Bags, and heard Joan’s evaluation review complete with prizes. The Health Clinic was opened and several remedies were demonstrated before Ocean Potion was served to all.

Following Free Time to explore or relax, the group gathered near The Gazebo to hear and view Memories that some had never heard before.

Prior to dinner, a tribute to Charlotte Wynne was read and Moon River was sung. The Memorial Book was available for viewing. Following dinner, a new Alphabet for Seniors was presented and then The Squirelles Decades Tour channeling ABBA was revealed! The costumes and act were the highlight of the evening. Door prizes and special gifts were distributed.
